If I could give a beginner landscape photographer any advice, it’s not to just use a wide-angle lens. They’re certainly useful for the genre, but on the other hand, they can be challenging from a compositional perspective. Use something like a Lens 70-200mm can allow you to simplify a complex scene and get more images from a single location, and you don’t need the expensive and heavy f/2.8 version; an f/4 variant would work perfectly fine.
