Beautiful Bohemian LA House Tour by Greg and Christy Billock

Place where I live

Tour the homes and stylish residences of the women we admire to discover their approach to design – and how they have created a sanctuary at home that nourishes their souls every day. day. See it all

I think of the scene where Thom York sings “Everything in Its Right Place” as I look at Greg and Christy Billock’s Los Angeles home. All the pieces, from the mid-century decor to the spanish skeleton of the three-bedroom 1930s house, complement each other. Contemplating space is a meditation. Dark forest evokes wisdom from trees, and the rich metals are a well-founded vibe. All textured tiles and ceramics evoke a sense of tranquility. That’s where art, intention and comfort collide – all rooted in the talent of Kirsten Blazek.

Creative director of multi-purpose design agency A1000xBetter, Blazek approaches Billock’s home the way she does all her projects: by considering the nuances and layers of life that will take place there. Creative and avid cooks who love to host, Billocks lives here with their two children. To support the way they live in space, Blazek — who worked with the designer Patrick Maziarski on the project — used her experience in art and color theory in every design choice.

The details are eclectic and bohemian. Blazek also merges the kitchen and dining space, allowing for more expansion collect, cook and eat. (And of course, let the sunny Los Angeles light shine through every nook and cranny.) The large dining table designed by A1000XBetter provides an anchor point for them all to come together.

The result is more than just a stunning sight. It is a feeling. And it’s a place filled with amazing details, like the backlash from regal Heath ceramics in the kitchen. “Visual interest in the long back wall of the kitchen,” says Billock. It also complements the open shelving strips containing Christy’s greenery and ceramics.

Greg and Christy Billock live in a warm and thoughtful home. Everything is in its place—which is why I can’t wait to ask Blazerk for details on how she completed the look. Start.

What was the first thing that stood out to you when you started designing Billock’s home?

The homeowners had a ton of wonderful furniture, beautiful artwork, and textiles and we were able to incorporate all of their existing pieces. We love mixing styles. The dining table has Craftsman roots, but fits perfectly with the other design elements of the kitchen and the Mid-Century responsive Spanish-style library.

What is a decoration advice for us to steal?

Don’t be afraid to mix styles! We don’t like to do anything too reference and we love to offer an eclectic mix of furniture, art and decor. We believe that if the innate items are already great then they can all work well together and not go out of style.

What role does color play in your work?

Color is extremely important to me when I design a space. I have always consciously created a cohesive color story from room to room. The color shades are also very appealing to me, and I put a lot of emphasis on finding exactly the right shade and saturation of each color we’re choosing.

Do you have a favorite room or design feature?

I love the entire back wall of the kitchen. We installed new, larger custom windows to increase natural light and incorporated open shelving into the design. The Heath tile is the perfect choice to add both texture and an extra layer of visual appeal to this long wall while keeping the color neutral.
