4 charged with overdose death of ‘The Wire’ actor Michael K. Williams
Four men have been arrested in death if Michael K. Williams, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York.
The actor was found dead in September 2021 at his New York City apartment after he died of a drug overdose.
Irvin Cartagena, 39, Hector Robles, 57, Luis Cruz, 56, and Carlos Macci, 70, were arrested on Tuesday. All four men were charged with “conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl analogues, fentanyl and heroin.”

The charge carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 40 years.
“Lethal opioids like fentanyl and heroin don’t care who you are or what you’ve achieved,” US Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement. “They only feed their addicts and lead to tragedy. The Southern District of New York and our law enforcement partners will not give up. We will bring every tool out to bear the brunt. And we will. continue to hold these people responsible for trafficking, drug exploitation, and causing senseless deaths.”
