When a special animal is in our care, we will do whatever it takes to find it home. Teddy found himself at the Ontario SPCA Stormont Animal Center, Dundas & Glengarry in Cornwall when an elderly family member could no longer care for him.
At the age of 9, with the wobbly gait and uncoordinated movements he had lived with most of his life, Teddy was looked down upon by many adopters. They don’t see the sweet, docile cat hiding behind the disability. Then Morgan and her family came and changed Teddy’s life.
This family grieving the loss of their beloved big cat two years ago and their hearts are finally ready to welcome a new furry family member. Morgan’s seven-year-old son chose Teddy despite the cat’s age and physical challenges.
“When I asked my son if he was sure he wanted to choose Teddy, he replied, “But I also have old and funny walking patients. Don’t you love them anymore!? And what if we only had him for five years, but he was the best cat for five years? ‘” Morgan recalled. “And our son was absolutely right. He really is the BEST cat. My son affirms, “I chose him, but he also chose me.”
Now Teddy is living his best life, surrounded by people who love him. On top of that, his condition has improved.
Morgan reports: “His personality was starting to shine. “He is very naughty and will drop a toy at your leg to signal that he wants you to throw it. He suits our kids in the sense that he usually clears his toy box throughout the day and proudly leaves a mess for me to pick up. He’s never too busy to rub his belly and will even let you know if he’s been waiting too long. He loves to cuddle, hide under bed sheets, chase balloons and faithfully pursue. He listened attentively as our son read to him and gently stroked our daughter when she wanted a treat. “
