Paid stay upgrade
While we generally consider room upgrades as a privilege for travelers with the hotel’s elite status, World of Hyatt allows its members to upgrade eligible paid stays using points. Best of all, the upgrade costs are reasonable:
- Club Room Upgrade Reward: 3,000 points per night.
- Suite Upgrade Reward: 6,000 points per night.
- Premium suite upgrade bonus: 9,000 points per night.
TPG rates Hyatt points at 1.7 cents per point, which generates 3,000 points worth about $51. There are many Hyatt properties that have club-level lounges where breakfast and other lounge benefits will add up to more than $51 per night. So here’s an option you should consider if you haven’t already Hyatt’s Global Status or Club lounge usage bonus to use.
Unfortunately, you must call Hyatt to initiate the upgrade process if you have booked a qualifying payment rate. And you can’t upgrade with points at every Hyatt hotel. So you may find it easier when upgrade your Hyatt stay with online points when booking.
While only some of the paid rates are eligible for an upgrade, this can be a great strategy if suites and premium rooms are much more expensive than standard rooms.

Enjoy all-inclusive resorts
Another way to get more value out of your points is to use them at all-inclusive resort. Hyatt’s portfolio currently includes 10 all-inclusive brands that you can reserve using Hyatt points.
Awards night at Hyatt’s Miraval Resort includes $175 per person resort credit, gourmet meals, snacks, beverages, wellness activities, lectures, and fitness classes. However, award nights at Miraval resorts follow a unique award ranking depending on the type of room and the number of guests that will be in the room. For a standard single occupancy room, you need to redeem 40,000 points on off-peak days, 45,000 points on standard days, and 50,000 points on peak days.
Meanwhile, Hyatt’s other all-inclusive brands — including Hyatt Zilara, Hyatt Ziva, Secrets Resorts & Spas and Dreams Resorts & Spas — are part of the brand. Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, there was another award chart. Here is the award table for the standard rooms in the All-Inclusive Collection:

Use Hyatt points to avoid resort fees
Unfortunately, resort fee is increasingly widespread, especially in Hawaii and major US cities. Luckily, Hyatt members get a free resort fee when redeeming points (while still getting the benefit of the resort fee).
At hotels with a resort fee of more than $50 a night (like Andaz Maui at Wailea . Resort), free resort can save you significant money. We recommend you compare the total cash rate with the total point rate when deciding whether or not redeem Hyatt points.
