US states started fining drivers for this stupid modification

South Carolina drivers have less than a week to go before their squats could be ticketed.

The grace period for the state law banning what is commonly known as the “Carolina Squat” ends May 10, after which authorities will begin issuing initial fines of $100 instead of warnings. with drivers whose vehicles are clearly violating the law.

The law took effect last November after receiving near-unanimous support from the state legislature, with a 180-day grace period about to end.

The Carolina Squat is a modification in which the front of a pickup truck or SUV is higher than the rear.

By law, drivers are not allowed to drive a vehicle with the front wheel arches rising more than 4 inches (about 10cm) higher than the rear wheel arches.

The primary concern for the modification is safety, with authorities citing visibility issues and mechanics citing over-stress of the vehicle’s powertrain as the main factors .

First-time violators will be fined $100, and those caught a second time will be fined $200.

A third or subsequent offense can result in a fine of $300 and possible license suspension for one year.
