Coach Fawzi Abdulla Nass guarantees a Bolt d’Oro full to join his series in Dubai on the first day of the Ocala Breeder’s Sales Company Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training for $450,000, with agent Oliver St Lawrence signing tickets.
The bay originally bred by Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky went through last year’s Keeneland Sale in September to her breeder with consignor Mulholland Springs, selling for $85,000 to Monarch Ranch. Halcyon Hammock’s Hal Hatch helped select the pinhook from the sale.
“She had a lot of legs and air as an aspirant,” Hatch said. “She’s a bit narrow at the front, but I know she’ll fill in and fix more as she gets older. She’s spent the winter right and we have high expectations on her.”
The filthy car was marked as Hip 141 by Halcyon Hammock Farm, the agent was passing: 10/5 traveled the eighth distance on the first day of the secret show April 10.
“She got better as we went along,” says Hatch. “I know her very well. She checked all the boxes.”
St Lawrence is not surprised by the hefty price tag.
“She’s going to Dubai with Fawzi Nass; he bought a Gunman here in March with Gerard Butler. He has Shahama, who is hoping to run in the Kentucky Oaks in a few weeks,” he said.
Nass recently had success with Munnings dirty, Shahama who won the UAE One Thousand Guineas presented by Emaar at Dubai Marina and the UAE Oaks presented by Jafza (G3), both at Meydan Racecourse.
The Man Out of Mount Aspen, of the Seattle Sheriff, is a half-brother of Bolo , the 1st place winner who made just $1 million for Golden Pegasus Racing and coach Carla Gaines. The Temple City gelding won Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1T) and Arcadia Stakes (G2T) consecutive runs in 2016-17, along with five other endeavors that hit the classified company on both surfaces. .
“I wanted to buy a shark with a nice pedigree, and she definitely has that, former 1st place winner and Derby winner (Mining that bird ) under the second dam,” said St Lawrence. She is a lovely motivator and has turned favorable and will hopefully do well for us. “
St Lawrence hopes to have a few more minors here this week, noting that this is the first US sale he has attended this year.
