When it comes to summer workwear, the responsibility belongs to textiles. Workwear is not always combined with the most breathable fabrics. Oftentimes, power wear refers to tailored combinations, one-breasted jackets, and plaids. When I grow up, I want to watch movies like baby boom in amazement. The female protagonists with their heavily padded shoulders and inflated briefcase represent the productive woman. Even though the costumes are from that era, that’s what I consider typical workwear. Wearing a school uniform doesn’t help either. We have the mindset that clothes have to look and feel a certain way in order to be considered smart.

In the summer, the weather allows for looser-fit textures and subtle shimmer—here rolled up sleeves, there ankle-length, buttoned up when the office’s air conditioning isn’t working enough .
