2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N delayed for Australia

Hyundai’s hottest sedan, the i30 Sedan N, will be touching down in Australia later than planned.

The brand has confirmed the overhauled i30 Sedan N will hit our shores in the first quarter of 2024, rather than the final quarter of 2023 as initially forecast.

The delay comes just 24 hours after Hyundai reopened orders for the i20 N and i30 N hot hatches, having cleared a significant production backlog.

Hyundai Australia has yet to release local pricing and specifications, but head office in Korea has published details on the updated model.

Before it hits Australia, the i30 Sedan N will headline a Hyundai N Performance push into the Chinese market.

The i30 Sedan N, known as the Elantra N and Avante N in other markets, is still powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 206kW of power and 393Nm of torque – with overboost on the automatic upping power to 213kW for 20 seconds.

Drive is sent exclusively to the front axle via a six-speed manual or eight-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic transmission, with an adaptive electromechanical front differential helping channel torque to tarmac.

There’s also a rear stiffness bar and a four-point strut ring for the front suspension.

Exterior changes on the updated i30 Sedan N include refreshed front and rear bumpers, available 19-inch forged alloy wheels, and black badging.

Inside it now receives an electric park brake, Digital Key 2 Touch which allows you to unlock the car with your iPhone or Apple Watch, as well as heated first- and second-row seats.

On the safety front the updated i30 Sedan N picks up additional airbags, bringing the total to eight, while also gaining adaptive cruise control, a Blind-Spot View Monitor, a surround-view camera, and a built-in dash-cam.

As for pricing, expect a nominal increase to the current model’s $50,200 before on-roads sticker. Australian buyers are currently able to choose between the six-speed manual and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic for no cost.
