Boxing returns Saturday night at Tropicana Atlantic City, tickets are on sale now
Professional boxing is making its triumphant return to the Boardwalk in Atlantic City on Saturday, May 11
After successfully hosting club shows in New York City’s Broadway district for the past year and a half, Larry Goldberg of Boxing Insider Promotions is returning to his hometown. The setting was the Tropicana Hotel & Casino, where the gallery hosted a special card featuring some of the best young talent in New Jersey, New York and beyond.

Middleweight JUSTIN FIGUEROA (8-0, 6 KO’s) is a product of Atlantic City who is known to the public for his exploits not only in boxing but also in other sports, especially soccer, where he starred at Holy Spirit High School and harbored intentions of playing for a Division I program. Justin was also an active member of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol.
As Figueroa advances through the professional ranks, he intends, in his words, to “put Atlantic City on my back.”
Figueroa’s May 11 opponent in the six-round bout is Antoni Armas from Maracay, Venezuela.
Junior featherweight JOHN LEONARDO (10-1-1, 4 KOs) hails from Manalapan Town. He faces FRANK GONZALEZ (12-5, 6 KOs), who has gone that distance in his last two fights. Gonzalez, a fighter based out of the Tampa Bay area, fought for the WBO Latino title as well as the WBA Fedecentro title in the bantamweight division.
In addition, legendary former heavyweight champion LARRY HOLMES will be present to meet and greet fans at the May 11 show.
