Volkswagen will raise prices on its ID.4 2023 electric crossover by $1,500 for vehicles assembled on January 4, 2023 or later, the company confirmed on Thursday.
The news comes from an email to the booking owner, published by electricity; Green Car Reports verified the message, price and timing with VW.
The price increase applies to existing reservations; Revised prices won’t be posted on VW’s website until January 4. VW also told pre-bookers that dealers will fix the actual prices of specific cars.

VW points to the cost of materials associated with the battery pack as the reason behind the price adjustment. The automaker also confirmed that the $1,295 destination fee will remain unchanged.
This is not the first time for ID.4. VW raised prices on the ID.4 product line and introduced a new base version $38,790—ID.4 standard. It’s cheaper than the 2022 ID.4 Pro’s $41,955 base price, with the same 201-horsepower permanent-magnet motor powering the rear wheels but a smaller battery pack with a total of 62 kWh and available power. 58 kwh, providing a range of 208 miles. The ID.4 Pro has an estimated range of 275 miles compared to a total package of 82 kwh (77 kwh available).

The 2023 VW ID.4 standard offers nearly all of the same strengths (and interface weaknesses) as the rest of the lineup, all currently assembled at VW’s Chattanooga, Tennessee plant in the United States. The Standard Edition retains the responsive steering and good handling of other ID.4 models, but also has a flawed touchscreen interface.
The card represented in all current EV prices is exactly the federal tax credit that will go to US-made EVs in the new year. With guidance of the Ministry of Finance Issued earlier this week, there’s a little room for interpretation. Car rental price could also drop in the new year, as automakers can once again include tax credits on their leases.
