2023 Subaru Legacy gets sportier decoration, more technology, new design

Just like the outback2023 Subaru Legacy refreshed mid-cycle this year. Highlights include updated design, in-car technology, driver assistance systems and the addition of new Sport trim.

The design update brings Heritage a new front. The car has new bumpers, redesigned LED headlights, larger grille and new fog lights.

A new sporty version for 2023 comes with its own design changes. Subaru incorporates a red accent strip across the front grille, as well as the magnetic gray side mirror caps and rear spoiler. In addition, the car also has 18-inch alloy wheels painted in unique gray. Supporting the Sport name is a standard 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with a “sport-tuned” suspension that no other Legacy model has. The interior comes in two-tone black and gray fabric, and it’s accented with red stitching – no other Legacy model can match it. And in terms of equipment, the Sport has everything the Premium trim has, but adds LED fog lights, power moonroof and navigation.

In addition to the Sport trim, all 2023 Legacy models will be equipped with the enhanced EyeSight suite of driver assistance systems. Camera with wider field of view, updated control software and new power brake booster all contribute to making the driving assistance system smoother and better than before.

2023 Subaru Legacy

Older models equipped with a large 11.6-inch touchscreen will now have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus, the display gets updated controls for the climate control system and other car functions – we’ll see if this makes it more intuitive to use. Another tech upgrade is the addition of an available digital rearview mirror.

For models equipped with a heated steering wheel, Subaru has made the entire wheel now warm instead of just a few key points of contact. Another luxurious addition is the Touring XT’s Slate Black Nappa leather seats with silver stitching. Finally, we will show that Legacy models equipped with navigation will incorporate what3words technology that the Outback now has allows customers to “navigate to and share trails, sights, and other hard-to-find places with three-word precision.” It’s a bit vague at the moment, but hopefully we’ll learn more about how it works when we try it out.

Pricing for the new Legacy has yet to be announced, but we expect it to be available closer to when it goes on sale this fall.
