2022 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid still runs 17 miles on electric, unique among affordable plug-in hybrids

The EPA hasn’t released updated figures for the 2022 Crosstrek Hybrid, but the 2021 model is rated 17 miles all-electric, with an EPA 36 mpg city, 34 highway, 35 combined — and range. estimated 480 miles based on combined figure.
2023 Subaru Solterra
With the arrival of Subaru’s first mass-produced electric vehicle, Solterra, which is expected within the next few months, the Crosstrek Hybrid could offer shoppers another option if they’re not quite ready to make the leap to all-electricity.
That said, the Crosstrek is a very low-volume vehicle that sells almost exclusively in the low-emissions states of California, where mandatory ZEVs and their credit-based system require a percentage certain of the plug-in vehicle models.
Under the current federal EV tax credit, the Crosstrek Hybrid qualifies for $4,502, while Subaru points out that some states offer an additional discount of up to $1,500. If you’re lucky enough to be able to claim both, that brings in an effective price of almost $30,000 – roughly the price of the top-tier Crosstrek Limited.
2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
As with the Limited, the Crosstrek Hybrid includes an active safety supplement you don’t find in the rest of the Crosstrek range, with automatic reverse emergency braking, blind-spot detection and a cross-traffic alert system. rear cross section. The Crosstrek Hybrid was introduced for the 2019 model year and is a huge improvement over the Previous Crosstrek Hybrid. But the current model hasn’t changed much since then.
