2022 Hyundai Veloster N Check the driveway

How beautiful is the blue color, I thought when I first saw the year 2022 Women’s Veloster sit in my driveway. When I opened the door, I was pleased to see the exterior paint “Performance Blue” reflected throughout the interior of the small sporty hatchback. The seat belts, stitching and most importantly, the driving mode buttons on the steering wheel all proudly raise the periwinkle flag.

The seat is a sturdy canvas decorated with leather. They’re supportive, with enough firmness to hold you in place without feeling like you’re clutching a belt. The throughline of the harness features an illuminated “N” logo. A black, blue, and gray striped ribbon runs along the centerline of the back of the chair and cushion. There are no power seats here – all adjustments are manual. Neither are heated seats.

The Veloster N has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that sits atop the center stack, below which are some hard buttons for menu shortcuts, with audio and climate controls below. Hidden even deeper are a pair of USB ports and a 12-volt outlet.

Right in front of the driver is a dashboard with analog gauges on either side of a small digital display. At the top is a cluster of 5 LEDs indicating the time to change the lighting direction from left to right in the order of white, orange, orange, red, red. Attention; with the transmission in manual mode, it will continue to keep gears after you hit the rev limit. Shift paddles on the back of the steering wheel let you swap gears quickly from an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

In addition to fabric and leather, there are several other materials and textures throughout the cabin. There are stiff but nicely textured plastic trims and dashes on the top, more traditional and hard plastic on the bottom dash, and some hard plastic but not quite as hard at some of the touch points. fixed as handrail.

In terms of memory, not much. There is a cubby for a phone under the center stack. Two cup holders sit in front of a small storage compartment in the center console. There are door pockets, but the left rear has only a small armrest. There’s no center seat in the back, so that’s where Hyundai rear cup holder and a small storage tray. There are no pockets on the back of the front seats.

The car’s diminutive stature suggests there’s not much room to move around, and that’s the case. Headroom in the front is minimal and it’s even shorter in the rear. I put my son’s car seat on the passenger side, and moved the front passenger seat forward to give him space. Sitting behind me wouldn’t be fun. There’s not much legroom and you have to crawl in from the passenger side, as there’s no rear driver’s door. However, be careful during that transportation. The cup holders between the rear seats hurt like hell if you rest your elbows or knees on them.

The trunk is spacious despite the small opening. It can be difficult to load large or heavy items into it. I also found it a bit difficult to dig the rear LATCH anchor from under the load floor. Still, it’s nice that you can hide them, in case you have fragile goods to put back there.

Entire populations work nicely with each other. It’s not a luxury car, and it’s not a typical home vehicle. This Veloster N is all about having sporty touches to match its hot-hatch performance. For the sticker price of $35,005, with absolutely no additional options, it’s a successful implementation.
