10 Weirdest Digital Cameras Ever Made

The form of digital cameras has become relatively standardized. There’s certainly a lot of variation from one manufacturer to another, but the basic design is generally consistent across companies. However, that was not always the case, especially in the early days of digital. This brief video introduces 10 of the weirdest digital cameras ever made and what makes them so unique.

Coming to you from Gordon Laing and DPReview TVThis hilarious video examines 10 of the weirdest digital cameras ever made. To be fair, my pick for the weirdest camera ever made isn’t digital, but it’s an interesting mention: the Rollei 35 series. Introduced at Photokina in 1966, Rollei 35 is neither a rangefinder nor an SLR; it was a true area focus camera and was the smallest 135 film camera ever made at the time. It comes with a near-flat retractable lens, a heating pad on the bottom of the body to mount the flash upside down, and an LED metering system in the viewfinder. It’s quirky and unwieldy, but somehow it all works and makes for a fun and unique experience, which is why I got two: one for shooting and one for display. Check out the video above for more exotic cameras!
