Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2: Everything We Know So Far

Polish the last few temples and give Calamity Ganon what to do in the final battle of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild It’s a bittersweet act. After such a wonderful and enriching journey, it’s time to bid farewell to Link, Zelda, and the biggest, most expansive version of Hyrule we’ve ever visited – what are we going to do with ourselves?

Of course, we go back to gobble up DLC and burn through the kingdom on our motorbikes while sucking up a few hundred Korok seeds, but then start waiting for the next ‘proper’ Zelda game. Certainly, during the intervening period, we had Cadence of Hyrulethe Wake up link redo, and Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamityand there are many Zelda-like games available for Switchbut nothing quite like full fat Zelda experience.

We already know that A direct sequel to Breath of the Wild is in developmentafter Nintendo revealed it in E3 2019 Live Presentation. But after E3 2020 was canceled, we didn’t get another look at the game until Nintendo’s E3 2021 Live Presentation.

As of March 2022, the game has been delayed to Spring 2023, when series producer Eiji Aonuma took to Twitter to announce the further delay… and a new (very brief) clip. ) about the game!

So take that Master Sword and get lost together (in the forest)…

Breath of the Wild Sequel Announcement, March 2022

Eiji Aonuma Announcement that the game was pushed back to the spring of 2023, breaking the hearts of Zelda fans everywhere… but could leave 2022 open for a Wind Waker HD do it again, right? It’s correct?

Not much new information is included in this 90-second video, but a small chunk of new footage is still worth analyzing and dissecting, so let’s get started!

We start the new shot with Link climbing out of the ground, as we’ve seen before…

But this translates to Link looking at some glowing orb. The important thing is that his sword glows blue, and the glowing orb is yellow? Who knows!

Botw1

Then Link reaches for the Master Sword we recognize from the hilt and we see the long, well-manicured nails… which we mentioned in the E3 2021 teaser analysis (see page two).

But… oh no! Master Sword is all… melty! And Link’s hand is also Yello brilliant! The blue/yellow glow has also featured prominently in previous trailers and trailers, so maybe it means anything else.

Botw2 Newlead2

In previous Zelda games, the color blue represented many things: Magic, the goddess Nayru, the “Wisdom” part of the Triforce, and anything related to water, like the Zora race. It is also the color representing Zelda herself (who possesses the Triforce of Wisdom), and anything related to souls and guidance, like Navi in Ocarina of Timeand Fi, the embodiment of Master Sword, in Skyward Sword.

On the other hand, yellow usually represents the floors and electricity of the desert, but two other goddesses – Din, the goddess of strength, and Farore, the goddess of courage – are green and red. It’s hard to say if this is the right path to go down! It can only be beautiful colors!

Link’s hand seems to be glowing on return, which is usually where Triforce comes in. Link’s Triforce wedge is Courage (Zelda is Wisdom, Ganon (dorf) is Power) – so perhaps yellow represents Courage/Faore in this game? That would make sense, since the dragon Farosh is the equivalent of Farore in this game, along with Dinraal and Naydra, and Farosh is a… electric dragon. INTERESTING.

Even so, the challenging-looking Master Sword seems pretty important – in previous trailers it’s notable we didn’t see the Master Sword, as Link always wields some other weapon. What melted the sword? Will it be ok? Is the quest in BOTW 2 going to reforge the sword? We’ll have to wait about a year to find out.

Other important traits to note: Link has tattoos, lovely long hair, and completely black arms (possibly a tattoo, or some sort of arm curse), and most importantly, Link doesn’t have nipples. Is this a plot point? It maybe.
