Video: Wii is old enough to drive
While we were all busy with the Wii U turning 10 years old last week, there’s also a big celebration for the Wii, the wrinkly, gray-haired Wii is 16 years old in total! Yes, that’s right, the Wii is old enough to drive now.
Once you’re done staring into space and suddenly realize how quickly the years have gone by (pfft, we’re total don’t do it), there is some good news to be offered as a celebratory video. The amazing Felix and Zion from the Nintendo Life video team got together to chat about everything Wii-related, and the results of their conversation are now out on YouTube.
With themes ranging from the way the couple first got their hands on the console to some of its weirdest and most amazing games, the celebration is a veritable blast from the past. You can watch the fill-in video below.
If an arbitrary number of 16 years isn’t enough to make you feel old, perhaps the following statistic will just about push you over the edge. As pointed out by @Bhaal_Spawn on Twitter, the Wii turning 16 now makes the console as old as the SNES when the Wii was first released. Yes, looking back on the Wii today, it’s exactly like looking back at the SNES back in 2006 *gulp*.
Even if 16 years passed in Mii’s blink (if those people maybe wink), we still cherish the Wii as a sign of Nintendo at its most innovative.
