See if you want to play Halo Infiniteof tonight’s campaign – you’ll need to install the game once it’s released. Unlike most of the other big games this year, Infinite doesn’t have a preload option, so you won’t be able to download it and have it ready to go by the time it launches. Even so, the developers of 343 Industries say that you can reduce the download a bit by installing the FPS’s multiplayer beta.
“While you can’t officially pre-load the Halo Infinite campaign (sorry!), you can start by installing the MP pack if you haven’t already and save some time” community director Brian Jarrad says.
The campaign launches today at 6pm GMT (10am Pacific Time) and you can download multiplayer yourself, but you can’t download the campaign individually. Your options are multiplayer only or both, which is pretty annoying for people who don’t fancy PvP. Although, as a lightweight solution, installing the beta right now will give you 20 GB of Halo in advance.

There are no existing Halo Infinite installations:
- Multiplayer only: about 26.53 GB
- Both multiplayer and campaign: about 48.42 GB
With Halo Infinite’s multiplayer beta installed:
- Multiplayer only: about 3.97 GB
- Campaign settings: additional download about 25.86 GB
- Total of both downloads: about 29.83 GB in total
343 adds that these download sizes will vary by platform, so these numbers are more of a guide for what to expect. They don’t specify what platform these numbers are for.
