Yoto Mini Review – A Beautiful Mess

Recently we have Yoto Mini Audio Player for our kids (4 and 6 years old) and I believe they are the greatest toy of all time. In this post, I will share what the Yoto Mini does and why our kids love them so much!

Our oldest daughter is just learning to read. We spend a lot of time reading, but she hasn’t reached the stage of independent reading yet, and our little girl won’t be in a few years.

I love audiobooks and I was interested in recommending audiobooks to our children, but we weren’t interested in giving them more access to devices (iPads, phones, etc.) at this time.

When I heard my friends review the Yoto Mini, I knew it was the perfect solution for us.

Yoto players come as one full size and a mini version. You collect cards that play stories, music, meditation, and more. I start with lots of bedtime cards so they can use them as part of their nightly routine.

Here are some of the cards we’ve collected so far. As long as they’re playing with them, I’ll keep adding more for birthdays and holidays.

For bedtime: Magical meditation before going to bed, Meditate before going to bed, Enchanting meditation, Mermaids and thoughts on Fairy Dust and Good night space people.

Classic: There are so many great things classic stories available. I just ordered some for my upcoming birthday, including Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Snow Queen.

Personal favorites: Llama Llama Collection, Beverly Cleary Collection, Flamingo . Hotel Collectionand Beatrix Potter Collection.

(Note: I haven’t ordered any Disney/Pixar yet because I’m worried they’ll notice the classics. However, we’ll probably add those because of our kids. love those stories too.)

In addition to the cards, our kids love listening to Yoto Radio, which plays a pretty loud variety of music (it randomly switches from Lady Gaga to Frank Sinatra) and Yoto Daily Podcast, which has daily birthday showcases as well as daily activities and games (so sweet!).

Our kids feel amazing and grown up using these little devices. They’re just enough to keep them engaged for hours, but not too much of a screen device.

They are educational and perfect for encouraging independent reading.

If you want to be super organized, I like This solution by Etsy seller. We haven’t bought any organization yet — I’ve put the cards in a small basket so they can be easily accessed.

How did you get pink and orange?

The rubber sleeves sold separately.

What stories does your child hear the most?

Hitherto, Llama Llama is the one that I find played the most.

Is the volume loud?

The maximum volume is suitable for children, but I find it loud/annoying when both are playing different things. You also have the option to use children’s headphonesVery suitable for travel.

I hope this review was helpful. If you’re on the fence like I am, I hope I’ve tipped you over the edge. I’ve always been hesitant about adding more equipment, but it was well worth it for our family.

If you have any other questions, I’ll be happy to answer them in the comments. xx, Elsie
