In FFXIV Letter from the Live Producer LXVIII, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed he has no plans to leave the game. He confirmed his commitment to work on the MMORPG. He also jokingly discussed the only possible scenarios that would make him likely to leave the development team.
This is Yoshida’s exact statement about his plans to continue working FFXIV.
Personally, unless the CEO [Yosuke Matsuda] said, “Yoshida, you need to leave…” And even then, I thought I would fight him. Or what if the development team, the operations team, wanted to kick me out. Or if I, God forbid, die. Those are the only extreme cases I would even consider to XIV project. I want to keep working Final Fantasy XIV. So your continued support will definitely be appreciated.
Before the presentation, Yoshida discussed other thoughts on the game. For example, he mentioned that there are no plans to bring NFT element to FFXIV. However, he has expressed interest in them as a business concept.
