WorldSBK meets Indonesia this weekend to win tickets to the penultimate round
2022 FIM Superbike Championship
Round 11 – Indonesia
Two rounds left in the 2022 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship and the title is on track for the title. The tropical island of Lombok welcomes WorldSBK’s second season and is located in Southeast Asia, a shower is never far away and if last year’s action continues, the Pirelli Indonesia Round is likely to be one of the most dramatic. the year 2022 .
Add to that the fact that the resurfacing of the Mandalika circuit was completed a few days ago and the properties of the new asphalt are still unknown…
Then, of course, it’s going to Phillip Island for the season finale being held here in our own backyard…
Giorgio Barbier – Pirelli
“The confrontation between Indonesia and Australia at the end of the season is unknown and important challenges for us. Starting with Mandalika, who just finished resurfacing a few days ago, so no one knows the characteristics of the new asphalt.
“We will certainly find a non-rubber circuit, tire wear may be more apparent in the free practice on Friday. We expect the situation to improve over the weekend with the development of the track, but we still don’t know how aggressive the new surface can be.
“The tires for this batch were shipped at the end of July and based on what we saw last year and being aware of the possibility that the circuit could be resumed, we decided to offer an allotment of including softer and harder and worn -sustainable solution“.
Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.
Bautista has never sat on a Ducati Panigale V4 R at Mandalika, but that hasn’t deterred him on his way to wins at Estoril and Most.
It’s a tough task but Razgatlioglu is not going to give up the title race just because the score is saying so; the least he hopes to do is win the championship against Australia and to do that, he must reduce his current 82-point deficit to under 62 points by the end of the round.
In motor racing, you never know what could happen; Technical problems, bad weather or being involved in someone else’s accident are just some of the external factors that have affected this year’s title race for all three title contenders.
Toprak has stated that Mandalika is going to be just as strong for him and Yamaha as it is for Rea and Kawasaki, so if the weather settles down, perhaps there will be a change.
In the green corner, title chances are hanging for Jonathan Rea; it’s still math, but it would be the worst luck for his opponent as well as the dominance to keep him in it. Realistically, it looks like it’ll be another year with 65th but that doesn’t mean he’s going to push any less. However, Kawasaki and Rea won the double at Mandalika in 2021.
The fight also exists for fourth place in the Manufacturers Championship standings; Honda is just three points behind BMW and so far, the Japanese manufacturer has the edge.
Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) is eighth in the Championship standings, just one place ahead of Scott Redding (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), while Lecuona’s teammate Xavi Vierge is having some strong runs. As for Honda’s rookie duo, it’s going back to basics this weekend as the two learn a new song related to the Mandalika layout.

WorldSSP
Four second place, ten third place through three drivers after ten laps, but still without a win. Ducati couldn’t get any closer to World Supersport in 2022. Returning to the Championship for the first time since 2007 following the evolution of the WorldSSP class to combine more manufacturers with more motorcycles – the Ducati Panigale V2 is the one 955cc twin cylinder, compared to Triumph Triple 765cc and Yamaha inline-Four 600cc – Ducati is a popular choice among many teams.
Six full-time teams use bikes, of which three are brand new to the class (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team, BARNI Spark Racing Team and D34G Racing Team), while two have switched to the brand (CM Racing) from Yamaha and Orelac Racing VerdNatura from Kawasaki). The other team, Althea Racing, is back on the track overall, after they left Honda in 2020.
The lead is Yamaha, though, and Dominique Aegerter could wrap up the championship this weekend.
