Woman allegedly detained by man she met on Bumble

A Texas man is currently facing charges after allegedly kidnapping, torturing and sexually assaulting a woman he met on Bumble. According to WSAZ, the man’s name is Zachary Mills and 21 years old. He has been charged with first-degree aggravated kidnapping.

The woman’s abduction and subsequent torture

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the woman met Mills on the dating app Bumble. And agreed to let him pick her up from her apartment in Spring, Texas on Christmas Eve.

They went to his house and upon entering, he allegedly tried to have sex with her. But she refused. Mill then began punching, slapping and biting the woman. According to court documents, when “he got tired of hitting her,” Mills allegedly raped her and assaulted her with a screwdriver.

According to WSAZ, authorities believe Mills deprived the woman of food and water for five days while he allegedly detained her.

She was only able to escape the facility on December 29, 2022, when Mills left to visit his father. The woman gathered her clothes and rushed out of the house, asking for help from the first people she saw.

Authorities say she suffered “severe bruises in both eyes, bites and cuts in both her throat and nose, and severe bruising on (much of) her body.”

The arrest of Mill

The 21-year-old was arrested Friday, December 30, 2022. And booked into the Harris County Jail.

However, according to WSAZ, he has since posted his $50,000 bond. And is under house arrest 24 hours.

His attorney, Chris Denuna, said the charges against Mills were “too serious.” But believe it’s important to go through the process, as NBC News reported.

We do not plead guilty. It is important that the process… is done before we see if these allegations are credible. That is the whole point of the proceedings and the presumption of innocence.

Mills will be charged with aggravated kidnapping in March. According to the outlet, he could face additional charges.

Bumble has released an official statement since the incident.
