Winners and finalists of the 2024 Sony World Photography Awards Open Competition
The World Photography Organization has announced the category winners of this year’s competition Sony World Photography Awards Open competition. Nearly 400,000 images from more than 220 countries and territories were submitted into 10 categories: Architecture, Creativity, Landscape, Lifestyle, Motion, Natural World & Wildlife, Objects, Portraits, Street Photography and Travel.
For underwater photographers, the most interesting photos can be found in the Natural World & Wildlife category. Ian Ford from the UK won the category with the sensational image above—appropriately titled “Caiman Crunch”—capturing the moment a jaguar lunges at an unsuspecting crocodile What. There are also three stunning underwater photos in this category by Rina Saito from Japan, Thien Nguyen Ngoc from Vietnam, and Jonathan McSwain from the United States—see below.
