Why you should use a 100mm macro lens for portraits and beauty photography
Most photographers use the 85mm f/1.4 lens for portraiture, and while those lenses are certainly fun, they may not really be the best choice for you. This great video will show you why you should consider a 100mm macro lens for your work.
Coming to you from Kayleigh JuneThis great video tutorial will show you why you should consider using Macro lens for portrait and beauty photography. In an age of f/1.4 apertures and backgrounds blown away to bokeh, the idea of using a lens with a relatively pedestrian-friendly maximum aperture seems odd, but has a lot of advantages. First, the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens can be significantly cheaper than the 85mm f/1.4 lens with comparable image quality. Second, it will be much lighter and easier to handle. Furthermore, it will likely focus faster and produce sharper results. And all of this is said without mentioning the increased versatility of macro photography, allowing you to capture detailed shots where a regular 85mm portrait lens can’t. I have taken perhaps 90% of my head shots with the 100mm macro lens and it is a reliable horse that has paid for itself many times over. Watch the video above for the full rundown from June.
