The highest-paid defender in the NFL, TJ Watt, will miss his second game of the season due to an injury he picked up in Week 9.
In the week leading up to the Steelers’ “Sunday Night Football” game against the Chargers, Watt missed training after injuring his hip and knee in the game against the Lions last week. The Steelers defender doesn’t have much of a history of injuries, but he has been injured twice this season. Both of those injuries also occurred to different body parts.

September 19, 2021
During Steelers’ Week 2’s game against the Raiders, Watt suffered a groin injury. At the time, he was the third Steelers player to suffer a groin injury, including Devin Bush and Joe Hadan.
Watt missed the 24-10 Week 3 loss to the Bengals the following week, but returned to play for Week 4.

November 14, 2021
Watt’s second injury of the season kept him out of the game against the Lions early in Week 10. He collided with a teammate, causing hip and knee injuries. He was ruled out of the match following this injury.
Watt did not participate in practice for the week of November 15. After the assessment, Watt will be monitored weekly to see how he is doing. Coach Mike Tomlin said they will leave the “light” for Week 11’s game against the Chargers. If he doesn’t return by Week 11, fans can start expecting him to return in Week 12.

In his fourth year in the league, Watt has only one injury that will keep him out of a game entirely before 2021. Back in 2017 during his rookie season, Watt suffered a groin injury. against the Vikings in Week 2. He missed the rest of the game, and then missed the following week’s game.
