The NBA’s transition into an era of space and speed has opened the door to some of the league’s most talented offensive weapons. When placed in the right system, players like Klay Thompson and Kevin Love have shown that they have the ability to light up the scoreboard and take the game out of reach in minutes.

The most points in a quarter in NBA history
Thompson set the record for the highest scoring inning in NBA history with 37 points in the third span of a game in 2015 (more on that below). Love was almost right for him in 2016, winning 34 points in a quarter for the Cavaliers.
Why isn’t Wilt Chamberlain higher on the list? The guy had a 100 point game! Well, his score in that competition was split evenly among four quarters: 23, 18, 28 and 31. However, he currently owns the record for the most goals scored in the half (59 points).

Klay Thompson has 37 points in the electric inning against Kings
Thompson burst onto the scene with 52 points after 33 minutes of play on January 23, 2015, leading the Warriors to a 126-101 victory over the Kings. Thompson made all of his 13 goals during the quarter, including nine 3-pointers, scoring all but four of Golden State’s points in that goal.
“I’m one of the luckiest NBA players to ever play with Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, David Robinson and some of the greatest players ever.” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “As many spectacular things as Michael did, which he did nightly, I’ve never seen him do it.”
The All-Star keeper averaged 21.7 points per game and shot 46.3 percent from a 3-point range during the 2014-15 season. Golden State went on to win the 2015 NBA championship, beginning a run in which the Warriors won three titles in four seasons.
