There are so many famous places out there, and while they may look appealing, sometimes you go there and realize you’re creating images exactly like thousands of photographers before you did. So, is it worthwhile to invest time, effort and money to photograph such locations? This excellent video features an experienced landscape photographer discussing the topic.

I think there’s nothing wrong with this as long as you understand the unique issues surrounding them and adjust your expectations appropriately. If you are simply for your own enjoyment, by all means, go and have fun. On the other hand, if you are expecting to make money through the sale of such images, it is important to remember that you are competing with thousands of very similar photos and it is difficult to distinguish your work.
