What will you play this weekend? (December 10)

Alana Hagues, editor

I played more Signal after trying it out on Game Pass a few weeks ago and I have no qualms about it anymore! I also had ghost song on a notebook and I’m a Metroidvania geek, which means I’ll probably enjoy this one. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also on the card, as I haven’t tried the new courses yet! Maple Treeway is a favorite so I’m excited to revisit it.

A new release that I’m going to reward myself with this weekend is shackle echo. This looks to be a pretty excellent SNES-inspired JRPG with snappy turn-based combat, and I’ve heard some great things about it. Stay warm, people!

After spending literally hour try to defeat the final boss in fear of Metroid, I finally beat it! This is my hot spot: it’s a very good game. However, this does not mean that I am in a period of mourning until you complete a game that you have completely invested in.

In this wretched state, I’ve enjoyed working through Signal tree so far this week and possibly ending this weekend – is there a greater contrast to Metroid? I’ve also downloaded Signalis and have it ready to go, so maybe I’ll dip my toes in that when I have time. As long as I’m allowed to turn on transparent lights…

Alex Olney, Video Producer

I’ve had a pretty busy weekend for the past six weeks or so, so I’m looking forward to getting some serious video game fun. I downloaded it recently The Story of the Plague: Requiem Thanks to the Game Pass that might get a little bit of attention and there will be some for sure Splatoon 3 throw in for good measure. I was also intending to come back in Star Valleyexcellent multiplayer instead of just staring mindlessly at others Star Wars series, so if I could start that habit again, I would be a very happy bunny.

Kate Gray, Staff Writer

I’m going out this weekend sea of thieves with my pirate crew. Yarrr. We played Sea of Thieves very well unless I “accidentally” burned the boat.

Also, I’m playing Disney’s Dream Valley of Light and Solid V Metal Gearbox! Those are two VERY different games but I like them as a pair. Also, imagine Kojima’s version of Dreamlight Valley…

This week, I rebooted Super Mario Bros. New U Deluxe on Switch, partly because I wanted to relax with something easy to play, and partly because I was trying to show off a brand new 2D Nintendo game of Mario. Come on, it’s about time, isn’t it? However, not in the “New” style, please…

Otherwise, I don’t play much at the moment! With the revelation of Hades III can go back to the original game in a few rounds, we’ll see.

Gonçalo Lopes, Critic

Surprised no one I knee deep into Mission Ahead 1: Redo. Will dip a little more in New Joe & Mac Cave Ninja along with some Splatoon 3 amiibo bonuses. I confess to skipping this week’s eShop releases but at least I definitely need to check out Chained Echoes. Gamecube disc tray still spinning Virtua Striker 3 2002 World Cup Fever version

Game of the week is Dragon Treasure Hunt. I simply can’t find anything to not love about this game except for the fact that I only had a few days to finish it before. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion come next week. Please arrange your RPG releases better, Square-Enix senpai.

As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
