According to NBC News, Madison County Prosecutor Rob Wood said via Zoom at Daybell’s June 10, 2020 hearing that the “mode of concealment” of one of the bodies was “particularly egregious.” The lawsuit alleges the remains were in the yard from September 22, 2019 to June 9, 2020.
To this day, neither Chad nor Lori have offered any explanation for how the children were buried in his yard.
“This whole process is really difficult,” Colby Ryan, Lori’s son from a second marriage and Kylee’s half-brother, told East Idaho News in June 2021 after Chad and Lori pleaded not guilty to murder. “We’ve all been through it but he’s going to say what he’s going to say. However, last August, Chad’s children told 48 hours that they believe their father is innocent of the three murders, including their mother. Daughter Emma Murray alleges that Chad was framed; When asked by whom, she replied, “I think it’s pretty obvious it’s Lori and Alex.”
However, by all accounts, Lori has maintained her allegiance to Chad since their arrest.
