Richard Lindzen is a dynamic meteorologist. He contributed to the development of the theories of the Hadley’s Cycle, hydrodynamic instability theory, internal gravity waves, atmospheric tides, and quasi-bienary oscillations of the stratosphere. His current research focuses on climate sensitivity, the role of cirrus clouds in climate, and determining temperature differences between the tropics and the poles. He has earned many degrees from Harvard University and has won numerous awards in his field of research, such as the Jule Charney Prize for “highly significant research in atmospheric science”. From 1983 to 2013, he was the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Science at MIT, where he received the honorary title in July 2013.
