WBC order Ryan Garcia vs Isaac Cruz

The WBC requested a lightweight final between Ryan Garcia and Isaac Cruz.

In the current top 10 by the regulator, Garcia is ranked as the number two candidate while Cruz is two places below.

Yesterday’s news was followed by three announced qualifiers: O’Shaquie Foster v Eduardo Ramirez (super featherweight), Noel Mikaelian v Thabiso Mchunu (cruiser class) and Jason Moloney v Nawapon Sor Rungvisai (cruiser class) bantamweight).

However, it is the fight between Garcia and Cruz that attracts the most attention. ‘KingRy’ returned to action last month after a 15-month break with a routine win over Emamanuel Tagoe.

During Garcia’s time away from boxing, Cruz fought Jose Matias Romero, Francisco Vargas, Gervonta Davis and Yuriorkis Gamboa. Only loss to ‘Tank’ Davis in December.

Yesterday, on Twitter, Garcia reacted to the news of Cruz’s fight.

“I’m so excited. There’s very little chance for this man to escape his fate when he steps into the ring with me. Go Pitbull. Time to make this happen. Don’t do anything. What’s weird. Give the fans what they want!”

Winner Garcia over Cruz will usurp victory between WBC lightweight champion George Kambosos and challenger Devin Haney, who fights June 5 in Australia.
