Digital Extremes has announced the release date for WarframeHuge new expansion, The New War. On December 15th, players will be able to take part in a new set of campaign missions in the shooter, but instead of playing like a regular Warframe, you’ll be impersonating a bunch of different characters. . The developers call it a “cinematic expansion” filled with story content that answers “old questions” about the game’s universe.
We see some in the New War for the first time at this year’s TennoCon, where they showed some impressive (and dare I say cinematic) footage. The new trailer below is equally compelling. I’ve never played Warframe, but I’ve always admired its fantastic sci-fi scenes.
New War is a free expansion that continues the existing “Cinematic Quest” series. You take on the role of new playable characters on missions in new environments, including some of the open worlds Warframe often wants to add. Here are a few highlights from Digital Extremes about the participants:
“Take control of iconic enemies including Kahl-175 the Grineer, Veso the Corpus Tech and Dax: Teshin, as they battle across the Origins System to repel the invading Sentient forces,” they said. . “While the war rages on, so does the battle for the truth behind the conflict – understanding Lotus’ past to open up a new future.”
As with all that story content, The New War will introduce new customization options, weapons, accessories, and the game’s distinctive new Warframe, Caliban. The developers are adding a number of UI improvements to keep new players coming back and playing the rest of the story so far.
