As a driver, it’s easy to get lost watching hours of “Fast and furious” movies, but for many of us, life – children, spouse, yard, real work – gets in the way. financeBuzz wants to make movie watching a lucrative endeavor and is offering $1,000 for someone to watch all 10 movies and report back on the carnage.
It’s a publicity stunt for sure, but the website says it’s looking to track all the damage caused to cars in the movies to prepare for an upcoming story on insurance price. financeBuzz also wanted to track whether the number and dollar amount of wrecked cars increased or decreased through the movies. Couch potatoes at least 18 years old are lucky to receive $1,000 for their service and $100 for snacks and movie tickets.
Sounds like a sweet gig, doesn’t it? The truth probably won’t be sweet for select viewers. Making $1,000 to watch 20+ hours of movies means under $50 an hour – still a decent salary, but not everyone can watch them all. Have so much in some scenes there will be a lot of rewind action for anyone trying to make sense of things.
That said, there’s likely not going to be a shortage (dozens, indeed!) of people lining up to watch the movie. It’s an interesting story, even if the financial payout isn’t as lucrative as some might hope. It’s also just a fun project to get into, as many of us have been paying to watch movies for years instead of vice versa.
