Imagine this.

You go to a McDonald’s and do something a little different.

more Technically incorrect

No, you don’t go through drive through and complain that it takes too long.

Instead, you choose to step back in time a bit, order at the counter, and sit down in a pleasant plastic booth, on comfortable plastic chairs.

You look around and bathe yourself in the brightness of it all. You reminisce about your time at McDonald’s, years ago. Maybe you even order an ice cream.

But then you feel like you need the toilet.

At some McDonald’s, this isn’t always a fun affair. The constant pedestrian traffic – and the frequent lack of bathroom etiquette – is not easy to manage.

I guarantee that one of the relatively new attraction may change your mind about McDonald’s facilities.

I can present WOSH? This is the most engaging, moving and energizing bathroom idea I could ever see.

It’s a sustainable hand wash counter.

I hear you cry, “What’s the big deal?” Yes, sustainability is one thing and doing laundry has become a thing during a pandemic. But seriously, stop saving this Earth. We’re talking about McDonald’s here. Meat won’t save the Earth.

Ah, but WOSH has a highly creative element: A slot for you to slide your smartphone in to keep it smart and clean.

I already know. It sounds odd. And yes, I should mention this invention is only available at McDonald’s of Japan.

But please, see this in action and wonder if you might also want to take advantage of this fun.

WOSH reuses 98% of the water it uses. Producers Speak that “a pleasant glow appears when you start washing your hands, a visual countdown of 30 seconds is recommended. Let’s naturally form the habit of proper hygiene.”

Then promises 99.9% sterilization of your phone, thanks to deep ultraviolet light.

And well, you certainly know that your smartphone can be one of the dirtiest items in your daily life.

But additional goodness, doesn’t this sound like a good idea?

What a wonderfully thoughtful way to give your customers more than they could possibly expect.

Recently, McDonald’s had a technological breakthrough. If these WOSHs were installed at McDonald’s of America, could they become a real customer attraction?

Also: McDonald’s just threw technology out the window (well, their customers did)

Buy a burger and get a disinfected phone for free!

Well, I’m afraid not every McDonald’s US customer can appreciate this. How can this phone sanitizer be kept clean when everything around it is not? And how can McDonald’s maintain it when it can’t even keep the ice cream machine running?

Of course, fast food brands in the US are currently feeling quite conflicted about having customers inside their restaurants. Personnel is an issue. The pandemic has helped Drive over and deliver becomes a great opportunity. So why bother using so much real estate for relatively low returns?

Then again, it’s probably never wise to underestimate the human fascination with the unexpected.

Why, McDonald’s in the US charges more for its food, so maybe it can go higher and offer interesting touches – even in its restroom.

One can but dream.
