Volvo recalls 545 vehicles in Malaysia due to brake software error – MY2023 XC40, C40, XC60, S60, V60, XC90, S90

A recall has been issued for 545 Volvo cars in Malaysia due to a potential problem with the software in the brake control module. This is part of a global recall issued by Volvo Cars involving 106,691 cars in select markets.

The affected local vehicles are the 2023 version of the model XC40, C40, XC60, S60, V60, XC90 and S90. No other models or variants are affected.

The company said that some affected vehicle customers may experience brake pedal stiffness and loss of electronic brake assist functions, but added that the vehicle’s braking ability will remain through the brake pedal. Drivers will be alerted to the problem via the driver information module (DIM).

Volvo says there have been no reports of accidents or personal injuries related to the matter and that the recall is being carried out as a precautionary measure. It said owners will be notified to send their vehicles to its service centers to have the problem fixed.
