These are your favorite eight-cylinder engines
I will go with clarity here. SBC, LS and now LT engines from GM. Relatively small, light, powerful, maximum torque, reliable, cheap, flexible, no exotic technology to handle, any mechanic can work with it, the parts are everywhere, you can easily buy a barrel engine directly from GM or from millions of other suppliers, etc. Sure, there are definitely more powerful, higher revs; but it will be more expensive, less reliable, bigger or have some other major compromise. This is the best rounded V8 in my opinion.
From the ashes of SBC, revive the engine that comes to mind when you think of a V8. LS is the eight cylinders, one ends up in every YouTuber-swapped SEMA build, and half of the rockets drift at your local skidpan.
