Volkswagen Golf variant teased as ‘Remarkably fast transport’

Volkswagen posted this teaser image on its Facebook page with the caption, “We’re launching an NFT (Notable Fast Transporter). Coming February 2022.” In addition to identifying the vehicle as a Golf, and Volkswagen is certainly not talking about issuing a non-fungible token, we have nothing but conjecture about what the image represents. Playing with the image in Photoshop, we didn’t find an overly fast-moving appendage other than the hatch spoiler which here appears above and has a different shape to the spoiler on the currently hot Golf hatches. as GTI, GTE and GTD.

It looks like the above unit CHEAP Golf, and if we start there while looking at the Golf rumors for a few years, we’ll come across a source from Car Magazines in February 2019 can line up. UK stores wrote that VW will release a GTI Trophy for the Mk8 Golf range, a new production version of the limited edition GTI TCR which appeared with the last of the Mk7 Golf series in Europe. The new model is said to be in the middle GTI and CHEAP Golf, even though Car claims it will be more powerful than the R, the GTI Cup has the same 286 horsepower and 273 pound-feet as the GTI TCR did and is “the sportiest golf.”

There will be more aero, lower ride height, big wheels and brakeand a distinct key. Furthermore, as with the GTI TCR, buyers can pay to remove the chip that limits the maximum speed. However, instead of just increasing by 7 mph, with a top speed of 162 mph, the unrestricted Mk8 GTI Cup will run to 166 mph. Admittedly this sounds same as GTI Clubsport 45 appeared in Europe last year, but again, these are all dark shots in the teased image and it’s clear that something new is coming. It could perhaps be an evolution of Clubsport for an American audience and without the 45th anniversary overtones.

A more recent theory is that this is Golf R Plus prediction for April 2020, which brings about 400 horsepower from the 2.0-liter engine and hits 60 mph in less than four seconds. Here’s a model VW senior executives can’t even agree to make, a model designed for the Golf R 400 concept from 2014, a model wanted to borrow Audi’s The 2.5-liter five-cylinder turned out to be an even sharper competitor than Audi’s and forced Audi to reply, “You must be a nut.”

In any case, we’ll find out for sure what this is next month.
