Flash floods reported in PJ, KL, Selayang and Gombak – stay safe on the roads, delay travel if possible
The ongoing heavy rains in the Klang Valley have certainly caused flash floods in some areas. Astro Radio Traffic reported on flooding and standing water in Petaling Jaya, Selayang, Gombak and Kuala Lumpur.
Image shared by Facebook page of KL Information Department shows the OUG and Kuchai Lama areas have been particularly hard hit by the severe weather, with standing water visible on traffic cameras on Jalan Awan Besar, Jalan Kuchai Lama and the New Pantai Expressway entrance (NPE). This is slowing down traffic in these areas.
As always, we remind you to plan your route using navigation apps with real-time traffic data, such as Waze and Google Maps – and to stay safe on the road. If possible, delay your journey to avoid congestion and the risk of being caught in floods.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said last year that vehicle damage due to floods in 2022 amounted to RM18.8 million, in addition to the financial cost of vehicles being submerged in water. Repair may take at least two weeks.
