Video: MVG checks out a “cool” update for GameCube Emulator on Xbox
The GameCube may not have had much sales success, but it’s actually home to quite a few great first-party titles. To this day, many of them are still essentially locked onto the same Nintendo platform. This includes games like Eternal Darkness, F-Zero GXand even third-party hits like Sega’s Phantasy Star Online.
If you’ve lost hope that the GameCube library will make its way back to the Nintendo platform soon, don’t worry – because there are other way to relive the glory days of the stylish purple system. Video game developer and YouTuber Modern classic gamer recently considered a “major update” to Dolphin (Version 1.1.2) on Xbox Series X|S – including a new user interface while introducing series like Prime Minister Metroid.
This latest update gives the GameCube and Wii emulators a full UI on top of Microsoft’s console hardware – making it easier than ever to set up and play. Basically, you no longer have to configure Dolphin settings on your PC and then copy it to the system. According to some patch notes, there is now a “full settings menu for graphics and configuration” and the default of the GameCube controller has also been fixed.
There’s even the possibility of activating the GameCube broadband adapter to play online games like PSO, you can enable cheats and can now increase the resolution up to 5K (5120x 4224) – with additional graphic settings provided. MVG sums it up by saying it’s a “great” update for Dolphin on Xbox.
