Here’s another chance to own the world’s reddest Lexus LFA

Toyota’s Lexus luxury brand has always focused on innovative engineering concepts, although not as often. Serving speed. The pocket protectors at the company often strive to find ways to make cars quieter or quieter, but in a short period between 2010 and 2012, those engineers assembled 500 models of one of the this car. The coolest supercars ever existed. One of 38 examples in red built is passed the auction block again at Mecum’s Indianapolis sale this month and if you have the means, can bid on it. It was not sold in the company’s Kissimmee sale in January, so the auction continues.

If you weren’t in the car world back then, you’d never really know what it was like, but this car was hyped for over a decade before it was finally released to the extreme public. rich period. Only 20 are produced each month at a cost of $375,000 each, but Lexus is said to have lost money on each of them.

Currently on the market there are many types of vehicles if you want to go faster than this. That’s not really the problem. The key is the beautiful 4.8-liter V10 up front. In a way, it’s like a front-engined Porsche Carrera GT, you know? Or maybe it a modern Porsche 959? It makes 552 ponies and pushes 354 lb-ft of torque to the ground through a six-speed sequential transmission, but the engine’s truly exceptional statistic is its 9,000-rpm redline. Oh yeah, that’s the thing.

This design still looks great all these years later, and even with the optional Corvette flare-style polished wheels, it’s a true visual masterpiece. There are plenty of ways you can show off if you absolutely must have a supercar, but I think the LFA might be the best of them all. Unlike a new Ferrari or Lamborghini or something, if you buy an LFA, you’ll be proving that you’re knowledgeable. You are one of the knowledgeable people driving this V10 car. It may not have the same 0-60 time as a new McLaren, but you’ll certainly get more bang for your buck. And you can’t go that fast on the street anyway.

Some idiot bought this beautiful piece of engineering and only put 73 miles on the odometer during that time. What the hell is the purpose of that? Lexus spent all that time and money building a great engine and you never even got it during the breakthrough? I hope whoever ends up doing this next chooses to give the car the life it deserves, because low-mileage supercars are the dumbest things in the world.

Mecum gave a pre-auction estimate for Clifford’s Lexus Big Red between $850,000 and $950,000. Good luck, I guess? Personally, I don’t believe any driving experience in the world is worth more than $60,000, but maybe you have significantly more money that you don’t know what to do with, and you really like red. If you are that kind of person looking to drop nearly a million dollars on a 12-year-old Lexus, this is your chance. It will pass the area on May 18, so head to Indianapolis if you want.
