Paco Rabanne describes their new perfume bottle featuring a robot, Phantom, as “your new wingman.” NS The ad shows this in action, with the robot floating in a party, its behavior on a spectrum somewhere between 90s dance meme baby and a horn BB-8.
This same screw-top monster can now become your wingman in Curved Space, a sticky duo with no particular notes. “This is the first time a perfume has appeared in a game as a playable character” is a line in the press release. I love it, I hate it.

Question: they say this is a playable character, but is that so? He looks like an NPC that follows you around and while I’m guessing you point him towards enemies, that doesn’t sound like he’s “playable”. Of course, this is next to the problem.
Curved Space is released On steam back in june. It currently has 10 reviews on Steam, indicating its sales are not stellar. However, Paco Rabanne sees fit to cooperate with the game, so now you can send a perfume bottle out to combat interdimensional bugs on its small, round levels.
I appreciate that, by pointing out the absurdity of this partnership, I am also giving everyone involved the attention they crave. I’m sorry, but I can’t keep this to myself. If by their twist stats this means the campaign was successful, then so be it. Let the game industry be filled with passionate fragrance. Let shmup lovers smell like a damn robot.
In fact, I would say we should do this in the opposite direction. What other deployable weapons would you like to enjoy? Phantom is alleged to have “addictive creamy lavender, energizing lemon and sensual woody vanilla.” I thought a Half-Life 2 manhack might smell like ash, like G-Man talked about, but, really. Ignite and effervesce ashes?
