Video: ‘Landscapes of Change’ beautifully shows the changing seasons from an aerial perspective: Digital Photography Review

You may have heard the classic song Crowded House’Four seasons in one day. ‘ Now, there’s a video showing the change of all four seasons through a series of dazzling transitions. Use one Mavic 2 Pro and third-party apps Litchi fruit, Arvids Baranovs selected about 30 distinctive locations in Latvia — from winding rivers to National Parks — and used his superhuman skills in the air to be able to illustrate the changing seasons.

‘The change of seasons is such a self-evident phenomenon that we take it for granted but we still struggle to capture it in action. From the outside: nature seems static compared to the hectic lives we all have to live. At best, we might notice a sudden heatwave or a sudden freeze, a violent storm, or a particularly brilliant sunset. But in reality, nature is still everything – it is always in motion changing and changing, we only operate on different time intervals,’ Baranovs describes in his paper for PetaPixel.

He also thinks that the gradual change of seasons over time is why most humans fail to recognize significant threats to our planet, such as climate change. . The Baranovs drove thousands of miles, returning to the same locations throughout the year so they could capture footage to illustrate their vision. He recorded the exact GPS of his launch point and altitude. Litchi is useful for saving task data. This allowed the Baranovs to combine the same photos taken at different times of the year.

Instead of injecting narration into the video, he lets the footage convey his message – there’s no definite beginning or end to the essence. Running for just over seven and a half minutes, viewers are transported through multiple locations that change from Summer to Fall, then snow, and finally the rebirth of foliage signaling the arrival of Spring.

The Baranovs also credit the words of French philosopher Henri Bergson (1859–1941) as the inspiration for the video, specifically ‘La Recognition du changement’.

‘Change is absolute and radical: it has no support. We are deceived by sight, which is only the vanguard of touch: it prepares us for action. But if we switch to listening to a tune, we get a better sense of the indivisible change, even though we still tend to hear a wide range of notes. This is due to our thinking about the constant effort required to sing the tune, or because we see notes on the conductor’s script. But if we go back to sight and think about what science teaches us, we will see how matter is dissolved into action, with no objects moving but changing with the rhythm of motion. Nowhere do we see this “nature of change” better than in our inner lives. We are confused when we think of a series of immutable states with an immutable self to support, like actors walking across the stage. But none of the underlying self-things changes. We are all one tune; this is our time period (interfered heterogeneous continuum), although we are led by a practical interest in spatialization this time. ‘
