Bright Lights, Big City and…SANTACON!!!

Just had the pleasure of roaming the Big Apple in search of the holiday lights, along with some great photos, and with that brilliantly talented duo, Fancy Girl Street Boy. (Also known as Liza Politi and Ari Espay.)

The overwhelming crowds during the holiday show that the city is back, at least in terms of visitors, once again full of its usual energy and excitement. Navigating the streets is like playing rugby, and finding a seat in a restaurant is like finding a lost chest.

Times Square, never diminished by a local purple, even has a constant stream of air passing through the grates near the statue of Father Duffy, where people can step in and create posing with Marilyn.

And then there was Santa Claus.

As their website says….“SantaCon is a charity, non-political, no-nonsense Santa convention that takes place once a year to spread the joy of irrationalists.”

And believe me, these kind people will be ready in a heartbeat.

Santa’s Galore! And Santa’s maids.

It was such a fitting crowd that I could literally shoot and move in fully automatic mode without even looking through the camera. I’m using Z9with the new 17-28mm f2.8, aperture priority approx. -.3EV, eye detection AF. And my light is one Profile A10programmed on Auto, at about +.5EV and equipped with system ProClic softbox. Controlled lighting, seamless, from new equipment Connect Pro. Shoot and move.

Great crowd, great fun. Many thanks to the organizers for letting me climb on the bus.

And thanks Ari Espay, who made my snap above.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday….peace in the streets and everywhere….
