Mukaddes Yadigar is a Uyghur businessman, living in the UK since 2011.
In London, she has two restaurants serving Uyghur cuisine. Every month, she organizes events there to celebrate the food, music and dance of her people – to ensure the preservation of their culture.
The Uyghurs are a Muslim minority mainly from the Xinjiang region, China.
Human rights groups accuse the Chinese government of detaining more than 1 million Uighur Muslims and restricting their religious activities. And local activists say China is trying to erase its culture.
