US will begin travel restrictions from 8 countries for omicron variant: Coronavirus Update: NPR

Senior Biden administration officials say the US will implement new travel restrictions in response to a new variant of the coronavirus.
The policy will start on Monday and it affects travel from:
- Botswana
- Eswatini
- Lesotho
- Malawi
- Mozambican
- Namibia
- South Africa
- Zimbabwe
US citizens and permanent residents will not be affected by the restrictions, officials said.
The World Health Organization also announced on Friday that it call the new variant omicron, labeling it a “variant of interest”.
