Volkswagen has confirmed pricing for the US-made ID.4 2023 electric SUV, which includes a smaller battery base model.
The lower starting price doesn’t make it one of the price leaders in the electric vehicle market, but with today’s higher prices, it’s competitive. And possibly because of inflation, assembling the rest of the US product line didn’t make it any cheaper; The top-end ID.4 AWD Pro S Plus is currently priced at $55,000.
With a starting price of $38,790, the new ID.4 Standard is one of the lower-priced EVs on the market — and $41,955 less for 2022 ID.4 Pro.
If a buyer qualifies to claim the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit, that would put the ID.4’s actual price at $31,290, essentially in sync with VW’s claim that it will locate ID.4 to compete with mainstream gasoline-powered crossovers like the Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester in terms of value.
The ID.4 standard is equipped with a 201 hp permanent magnet motor at the rear wheel. VW previously listed the battery at 62 kWh total and around 58 kWh as usable. On top of that, the ID.4 Pro starts at $43,790 and features the same engine configuration but with an 82 kwh battery pack (about 77 usable kwh), for an estimated 275 miles of range. The ID.4 AWD Pro model starts at $52,590 and comes with all-wheel drive, pushing power to 295 hp, with an estimated range of 255 miles.

The ID.4 standard comes with more devices than the standard price-leading standard. For 2023, VW has added more standard technology, including VW’s Smart Parking Assist, a 45-watt USB-C charging port (good for laptops and tablets), and a smart display larger 12-inch infotainment. The accompanying set of active safety features has been expanded with pedestrian and cyclist detection added to the automatic emergency braking system, plus a “passenger-driven lane change function”. driver-initiated” as part of adaptive cruise control plus an active lane control system called Tour Assist. The lineup also features new colors and trim, as well as a new center console, along with new wheels in all versions.
All ID.4 models are available Plug and charge function. And VW includes 30 minutes Electrify America DC Fast Charger meetings for three years.
