US drops COVID-19 vaccination requirement for foreign tourists May 11

As of May 11, visitors to the United States will no longer be required to present proof of vaccination against COVID—19 for entry into that countryThe White House announced yesterday.
“Today, we are announcing that the Administration will end COVID-19 vaccine requirements for Federal employees, Federal contractors, and international air travelers by the end of May 11, the same day that the COVID-19 public health emergency ends,” the White House said in a statement statement 1st 5th.
President Joe Biden was below Public pressure from some industry groups and government officials to remove regulations. As of November 2021, he has enforced a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention policy that restricts entry to non-citizen travelers who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 . The Biden administration almost renewed this mandate last April.
“Today’s action to lift the vaccine requirement has reduced the barrier to entry significantly for many global travelers, moving our industry and our country forward. “The return of international visitors must be as efficient and as safe as possible,” said Greg Staley, president and chief executive officer of the American Travel Association. and Border Protection officers to meet the growing demand for entry.”
This decision marks the end of COVID-19 vaccination requirements for general international travel. Prior to today, the only countries left with requirements were in Asia, including Japan, where dropped the vaccination requirement last week.
