United flyers can now enjoy the famous Whispering Angel rose wine
It may not be as flashy as Dom Perignon or as expensive as Hennessy Paradis, but United Airlines is currently serving up a fan-favorite rosé that is sure to impress fellow passengers.
The Chicago-based carrier announced Tuesday that it will be adding Whispering Angel rose to its line of wines offered in Polaris business class. Commissions are available free of charge to those sitting at the pointed end of the plane.
The whispering angel is one of the most popular varieties of rose in the United States, and it should appear just in time for spring break and busy summer travel.
“Whispering Angel is the best-selling French wine in the US, so we know it’s something travelers will be delighted to see on a plane just in time for spring break travel,” said Aaron McMillan, managing director. United’s hotel and planning division, said in a statement.
United currently serves an average of more than 450,000 complimentary glasses of wine in Polaris, and I’m sure that number will grow with more commissions. The Whispering Angel blend retails for $25 to $35 a bottle, making it one of the most expensive wines United has to offer. (Of course, it’s not like the airline pays the change for each bottle.)
The move comes as United is undergoing a more extensive dining refresh in its premium cabins, including reintroduce full dessert service, which features plates of cheese, cakes and ice cream sundaes of your own making. Additionally, United is rotating new menu options for Polaris, giving passengers more choices than before.
