UMW Toyota launches 5 cars on February 17th! GR Corolla, GR86, Supra MT, Hilux GR Sport, Corolla Cross GR-S
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) released a teaser showing five cars and the Toyota Gazoo Racing logo. The image also reads “coming soon” and the date – February 17. “Prepare for the awakening as a new batch of monsters will be released soon,” the caption reads.
Click link provided and you’ll be taken to the hobbyist registration page, with a ticker that counts down to the February 17 launch. The main image is five identical cars and the tagline “Wake the Beast”.
What are those five cars? It’s pretty easy to distinguish the cars on the far left and right – they’re the GR Supra and the GR86, of course. In December, UMWT announced that they will be launching GR86the GR Supra with 6-speed manual transmission (A90 is in auto mode only; 6MT to be announced in April 2022) and GR Corolla in 2023. Talk about Corolla GR, the hot hatch 304 PS AWD is next to Supra in the teaser. Click the link to know more about the cars.
In addition to those three actual GR vehicles, we also see a pickup and an SUV. Last month, advertisement for Hilux GR Sport appears online with an estimated price of RM16Xk. There are many versions of the Hilux GR Sport around the world, but the ad used the image of Thai version, makes sense – see here.
Finally, the only SUV in the room. Advertisement of Corolla Cross GR Sports also appeared last month, saying that the new flagship sports car will be a hybrid for RM15Xk. Currently, the Corolla Cross Hybrid tops the local range with RM142k.
