With the public finally revolting against the costs of Net Zero, the government has released its latest Climate Change Risk Assessment, warning us that climate change will cost tens of billions of dollars in damage to the environment. “climate disaster”:
The government announced today (Monday 17 January) UK’s third climate change risk assessment (CCRA3), which acknowledges the unprecedented challenge of ensuring the UK is climate-resilient and sets out the work being done to meet that challenge.
The 5-year review, conducted under the Climate Change Act 2008 and after working closely with the Climate Change Commission (CCC), identifies the risks that climate change poses to many sectors of our society and economy.
For eight individual risks, economic losses could exceed £1 billion a year by 2050 with a 2°C rise in temperature, with climate change costs to the UK rising by as little as 1°C. % of GDP in 2045.

As required by the Climate Change Act 2008, the UK government has undertaken a third five-year assessment of the risks of climate change to the UK. This is based on Independent assessment of UK climate risks, statutory advice is provided by the Climate Change Commission (CCC), which is authorized by the UK government and administrative bodies.
The risk assessment looks at 61 UK-wide climate risks and opportunities across multiple sectors of the economy and prioritizes the following eight risk areas for action over the next two years:
- risks to the viability and diversity of terrestrial and freshwater habitats and species from a variety of hazards
- risks to soil health from increased floods and droughts
- risks to natural carbon storage and sequestration from many hazards
- risks to crops, livestock and commercial crops due to a variety of climate hazards
- risks to the supply of critical food, goods and services due to the climate-related collapse of supply chains and distribution networks
- risks to people and the economy from climate-related failures of power systems
- risks to human health, well-being and productivity due to increased heat exposure in homes and other buildings
- many risks to the UK due to the impacts of climate change abroad
The report is largely based on data from last June Independent assessment of UK climate risks, published by the CCC, who now appear to be in charge of every aspect of climate policy. Not surprisingly, with their participation, the latest assessment is pure fantasy.
Three fundamental factors undermine and discredit the new Transparent Risk Assessment:
- Despite claims to the contrary, no evidence has been presented that our weather is getting worse, or will happen. Floods are a prime example, which we know will become catastrophic in the future. So where is the data that shows it has gotten worse?
- The report omits adaptation entirely, as it reveals:
For example, it makes no sense to assume that farmers won’t adapt to slightly warmer weather.
- Whatever the effects of climate change may be, and seemingly without mentioning certain benefits, they will be capped by natural variability and human influence. For example, the Moorland bushfires are mentioned many times, although actual data proves that the UK is not getting drier. But where is there any acknowledgment of the most important factors in wildfires – arson and accidents, both exacerbated by today’s easy accessibility. If we are so worried about wildfires, surely we should address these factors, and not try to control the weather?
In terms of specific risk areas, the first four seem to revolve around flooding and drought, with some wildfires occurring:
They are actually getting a meal from the wildfires, which affect only a very small percentage of our moors.
For the other two, where is the evidence that floods or droughts are getting worse? If they didn’t in the past, why should we believe the CCC when they tell us they will in the future.
Anyway, the idea that flooding will reduce soil fertility is ridiculous. That flood restores fertility.
The CCC talks about managing land and new crops and technologies, as if farmers hadn’t done these things since time immemorial. But Britain won’t suddenly become Texas in terms of climate, and the huge annual and monthly swings will continue to blunt the longer-term climate changes. If these things happen, they will happen so slowly that they are barely noticeable, and there will be plenty of time to adjust

But “extreme weather” has nothing to do with “climate change”. There is certainly no evidence that it is getting worse.
We have learned from the pandemic that it is dangerous to depend too much on China for what we buy and that should be the top priority of any government to mitigate this.
But the danger is that Net Zero policies will destroy our industrial base and make us more dependent on imported goods.
But this sequel is definitely a must-get cookie!

So, the weather-related risks to our electricity system will increase as we become more and more dependent on wind energy.
OH!! I have not seen that one to come!
It got worse:
It is clear that whoever wrote this nonsense did not read the latest ONS report, which shows that global warming has saved half a million lives in the UK.
The CCC lies about 2500 heat-related deaths in 2020, not indicating that mortality rates in recent hot summers are actually lower than in cold, wet summers.
Obviously we would all be too hot to work! Have they not heard of air conditioning? Or does mechanization eliminate most of the heavy lifting?
And what about all the yield lost in the cold winter, when the whole country can emerge with a few inches of snow? We are told these are things of the past now.
And finally, even if no disaster hits our shores, the rest of the world has to worry about:
I think CCC has watched too many disaster movies!
The whole report is just another attempt to scare the kids and convince people to accept Net Zero’s high cost.
